2024 YLP – Envisioning Harmony: Embracing the Power of Peace

The West Africa Centre for Peace Foundation hosted its annual 3-day PeaceJam Ghana Youth Leadership Conference from June 14-16, 2024, at GNAT Hall in Accra. Themed “Envisioning Harmony: Embracing the Power of Peace,” the event featured 2011 Nobel Peace Laureate Leymah Gbowee and brought together around 900 participants, including youth, teachers, mentors, volunteers, and international guests. The conference focused on promoting peace and leadership among young people, offering workshops, family group discussions, and activities to inspire and empower attendees.
The PeaceJam Ghana Youth Leadership Conference had a profound impact on young people by providing essential skills and experiences in team building, peace and conflict resolution, and effective communication. Participants engaged in interactive workshops and activities designed to foster collaboration, critical thinking, and leadership qualities.

Community Learning in Action

We believe learning doesn’t only happen in classrooms. Through interactive, community-based programs, we bring education to where youth are—under trees, in markets, on fields, and in neighborhoods.

Our approach merges local knowledge with global insight, helping young people gain practical skills while building confidence, collaboration, and civic awareness.

Career Navigation & Planning

We help young people chart clear paths to employment by offering personalized career guidance, exposure to various professions, and access to learning resources that align with future job markets.

Skills for the Future

Through hands-on workshops, digital literacy training, and industry-specific certifications, we equip youth with adaptable, in-demand skills to thrive in a rapidly evolving global economy.

Youth-Community Partnerships

We foster a culture of collaboration between youth and their communities by facilitating volunteer initiatives, local projects, and leadership roles that build trust and purpose.

Digital Access & Learning Spaces

We provide access to internet-enabled learning hubs and digital platforms that support remote education, self-paced training, and networking for rural and urban youth alike.

Civic and Climate Engagement

We develop youth-led campaigns that promote democratic values, environmental action, and social responsibility—helping young people become proactive citizens of their regions.

Innovation & Enterprise Launchpad

From ideation to implementation, we guide youth in designing social enterprises and projects that solve real problems—supporting them with mentorship, seed funding, and peer networks.
